BASHKORTOSTAN’S EXPERIENCE IN IMPLEMENTING ESG PRINCIPLES WILL BE APPLIED IN CHUVASHIA

Bashkortostan’s experience in implementing the principles of sustainable development on infrastructure sites will be applied in Chuvashia. This was discussed during a panel session of the Cheboksary Economic Forum, where one of the speakers was the deputy director of the management company of the special economic zone “Alga” Adil Kuzhin. He spoke about the mechanisms and advantages of introducing the ESG model into the activities of the SEZ management company. The key speaker of the session was Dmitry Krasnov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Chuvash Republic, Minister of Economic and Property Relations, who noted Bashkortostan’s advanced approach to attracting investors through commitment to the principles of sustainable development.

Nail Gabbasov, General Director of the Development Corporation, also commented on the achievements of the management company in this direction. Recall that the agency is the management company of the SEZ “Alga”.

– Back in 2022, Bashkortostan became one of the first regions to implement the principles of sustainable development on an infrastructure site, and the management company of the SEZ “Alga” became the first to place its non-financial statements in the public domain. Now we continue to improve our work in this area and involve our residents in the implementation of ESG principles. All this contributes to a more dynamic and confident development of the Alga special economic zone and significantly affects the choice of a site for business localization,” Nail Gabbasov noted.

The practice of implementing ESG principles in the Alga SEZ and the Ufa Industrial Park was also given as an example for managing companies of the country’s infrastructure sites by Daria Gulyaeva, Deputy Director for Sustainable Development of the Association of Clusters, Technoparks and SEZ of Russia, in a speech at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The Association’s experts annually conduct an audit of the infrastructure site, based on the results of which they determine the effectiveness of the management company in implementing the principles of sustainable development in its activities.

Recall that the ESG principles imply a responsible attitude to the environment, high social responsibility and quality of corporate governance. These approaches make it possible to increase the investment attractiveness of the sites. ESG standards affect the ability of companies to create long-term value and thereby move from short-term business behavior to long-term, ensuring their competitiveness.
