The Republic of Bashkortostan has entered the top ten of the rating for the implementation of ESG principles in the activities of management companies in territories with preferential treatment. This was discussed during a meeting of the Expert Council for the development of industrial infrastructure of the Association of Clusters, Technoparks and SEZ of Russia (AKIT RF), which took place within the framework of the annual general meeting of the Association’s members in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The speakers of the meeting were Denis Kravchenko, Chairman of the Expert Council, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Vitaly Altabaev, Director of the Department of Regional Development of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Ivan Kulikov, Director of the Department of Regional Industrial Policy of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and other experts. The meeting was attended by representatives of the country’s preferential zones, including the Bashkortostan Development Corporation, the management company of the Alga special economic zone and the Ufa Industrial Park.
– Back in 2022, Bashkortostan became one of the pilot projects for the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the activities of the management company of the SEZ “Alga” and the industrial park “Ufa”. In addition, we were the first to disclose our non-financial statements in the public domain. Every year, AKIT experts conduct an audit of our preferential zones, which allows us to identify points for further improvement. So, together with residents, we are doing everything to ensure that ESG principles are actively applied at enterprises. I would like to note that now the introduction of the principles of sustainable development is no longer just a trend, but a necessary element in the process of increasing the investment attractiveness of the region,” said Nail Gabbasov, Director General of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
As previously noted by Daria Gulyaeva, Deputy Director of the AKIT of the Russian Federation for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development, the management company of the SEZ “Alga” is actively implementing the ESG model. Energy-saving equipment is used at the sites, the territory is being landscaped, electronic document management is being conducted, non-financial reporting is being disclosed, and personnel policy is being actively pursued.
Recall that the principles of sustainable development imply a responsible attitude to the environment, high social responsibility and quality of corporate governance.
