Within the framework of the III International SEZ Forum of Russia, the results of the ESG rating of special economic zones were summed up. The 6th place is occupied by the SEZ Alga, the management company of which is JSC Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan.As Nail Gabbasov, CEO of the Corporation, noted, ESG is a philosophy of responsible business management that includes three key components: caring for the environment, social responsibility, and the quality of corporate governance.
We strive to create an ecosystem where businesses can grow without forgetting about the future of our planet and society. The implementation of ESG principles is a necessary step to achieve the Goals of Sustainable Development. Last year we took the 7th place in this rating, and today we have risen by one position. We plan to continue implementing ESG principles at our enterprises, which remain competitive in the market, observing high standards of social and environmental responsibility, Nail Gabbasov said.
It should be recalled that in 2022, a temporary working group on the implementation of ESG standards was established in the republic. As a result, non-financial statements were prepared according to the established 77 indicators. Currently, the reports are published annually on the website of the special economic zone “Alga” in the public domain. Also, to implement sustainable development practices, a resident policy has been developed, which includes not only the requirements for residents established by law, but also the ESG principles that they must adhere to. The management company of the SEZ “Alga” aims to create favorable conditions for entrepreneurship, comfortable and safe conditions for employees and residents.
The SEZ International Forum is being held in Nizhny Novgorod and is aimed at exchanging best practices and forming new business relationships. The event brings together representatives of government, business and experts.
