The introduction of ESG principles in the Alga SEZ helped to attract an additional 13 residents and increase the investment portfolio of the special economic zone by 2.5 times. This was discussed during the panel session of the International Forum-Exhibition “inRussia-2024”, dedicated to the implementation of ESG principles in infrastructure sites, where one of the speakers was the director of the management company of the SEZ “Alga” Artem Penzin. He spoke about the mechanisms of implementing the ESG model and its impact on the investment attractiveness of preferential zones.

In turn, Nail Gabbasov, CEO of the RB Development Corporation, drew a direct parallel with the results of such activities and the economic achievements of the SEZ.

— Since the introduction of the ESG model, an additional 13 residents have been attracted and now 22 companies are residents of the Alga SEZ. The investment portfolio of residents has increased 2.5 times and amounts to about 65 billion rubles. It is also worth noting that the Alga SEZ entered the top ten of the II ESG-rating of the SEZ of Russia and took seventh place, rising three lines compared to last year, Nail Gabbasov said.

To achieve the goals of sustainable development, the Development Corporation, the management company of the special economic zone “Alga”, has developed a Policy in the field of sustainable development of the SEZ “Alga” and a Regulation on the procedure for carrying out industrial and production activities in the SEZ “Alga”. The latter, among other requirements, contains ESG standards that residents must comply with when carrying out activities on the territory of the SEZ.

Recall that the principles of sustainable development are responsible attitude to the environment, high social responsibility and high quality corporate governance.
