The efficiency of the Alga Special Economic Zone (SEZ) increased by 59% in 2023. Such data were published by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia. According to the monitoring results, the efficiency of the Alga SEZ, created on the initiative of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov, amounted to 89% in 2023, significantly exceeding the results of 2022, when this indicator was 30%.
The SEZ performance was assessed using 25 absolute and relative quantitative, as well as six calculated performance indicators. The evaluation criteria were described in the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the management company of the preferential zone.
– As part of summarizing the results of the analysis of the effectiveness of the functioning of special economic zones, experts took into account the activities of residents, the profitability of investing regional budget funds in infrastructure creation, the activities of the management company, the contribution of the SEZ to achieving national development goals of the country and other parameters. In particular, the multiple increase in the indicators of the SEZ “Alga” was influenced by the excess of the projected number of companies that became its residents, the number of jobs created, the volume of investments and benefits applied, the volume of customs payments, as well as the share of the area of land plots provided to residents. In addition, the work of the management company was highly appreciated, the indicator for this item is 100%. Engineering and transport infrastructure has been created at the sites of the SEZ “Alga” by the Development Corporation, the sites are provided with electricity, water and gas supplies, as well as access roads. This helps to significantly reduce the investment phase and launch production faster,” said Nail Gabbasov, General Director of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
In total, in addition to the stated parameters, the increase in the efficiency of the Alga SEZ was influenced, among other things, by the inclusion of the Ufa Industrial Park territory in the preferential zone, after which the total area of the Alga SEZ increased to 763 hectares. Earlier, the authorities of Bashkortostan submitted an application for additional expansion of the territory of the SEZ “Alga” at the expense of land plots located in the Ufa district. The preparation of the application for the expansion of the SEZ territory was carried out by the Development Corporation together with the Regional Project Office of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
